These are some of the lesson I learned from the 1980 tornados:

• Have working flashlights available at all times.
• Have a place available for your pets.
• Have some snacks, bottled water, canned food (and a can opener!) and a battery operated radio available in the basement. 

Our basement is now stocked with those items, and some extra batteries, and the pets have a “Harry Potter” spot under the stairs.
