Household Chemical Safety

Nearly every household has an assortment of chemicals used in routine jobs like cleaning supplies, solvents, and fuels.  Don’t overlook the hazards of these chemicals and remember these simple ideas for household chemical safety:

  1. Never mix chemicals.  Mixing can result in toxic fumes and vapors that can hurt or kill you.
  2. Limit the amount of chemicals in the home.
  3. Isolate chemicals from excessive heat, pressure, or impact.
  4. Eliminate older or unused chemicals, properly.
  5. Separate chemicals into common groups such as acids, alkalis, fuels, etc.
